Alex served as a member of PSGB's Research Working Party from 2018 until 2021 when he joined Council as General Secretary.  He is a lecturer in primatology at the School of Natural Sciences at Bangor University where he directs the BSc/MZool degree in Zoology with Primatology. 

Alex's research focuses on primate reproductive ecology, physiology and conservation and he has conducted field work with apes and monkeys in Uganda, the DRC, and Puerto Rico. He now directs the Zanzibar Red Colobus Project, a new long-term study of an endangered and endemic primate.
