The Primate Society of Great Britain wishes to ensure that its activities are guided by ethical considerations. Presentations at its conferences, and acceptance of sponsorship and donations must conform with ethical guidelines.
Here we describe some of the main activities of the CWP, particularly the administration of the PSGB Conservation Fund, disbursed through several small grants in support of conservation work.
Authors submitting talks or posters must confirm that the research in question was carried out in accordance with the ASAB/ABS Guidelines for the Treatment of Animals in Behavioural Research and Teaching, which can be downloaded here.
Ethical Guidelines for Sponsorship and Donations
The society wishes to seek a wide range of sponsorship and donations from diverse sources, including corporations. PSGB has modified a statement from the Ethical Investors Group, which is broad enough to cover our concerns in a general sense, and includes both positive and negative selection criteria. Generally speaking, the criteria used by PSGB to determine if they could be associated with a particular sponsor or donor can be split into two groups: 1) Those which make a positive contribution and 2) those which are known to have a negative social or environmental effect.
The Positive
PSGB will be very pleased to hear from and work with sponsors/donors that
are associated with the following: o Environmental protection o Pollution
control o Conservation and recycling o Safety and security o Ethical employment
practices
The Negative
Negative selection may result in the avoidance of
sponsors/donors linked with the following:
